In 1992, after I had done The Wiz and Ain't Misbehavin', I
did the practical thing: I put some money away, knowing that someday I
would grow older and need it. But then my life partner of 17 years was
diagnosed with AIDS-related Lymphoma. I spent the last four years of
his life caring for him, and gradually...my savings dwindled.
I didn't know where else to turn, so I called The Actors Fund
and explained my situation. They immediately stepped in and offered me
help with every item on my list.
When I needed assistance, The Actors Fund was there. At my lowest
point, when I couldn't see beyond the horizon of despair and I
