Dear John,
It’s terrible to think that a child can suffer bigotry in their own school, but that’s exactly what happened to Mason. When he was just a seventh grader, his Florida classmates started harassing him with appalling acts of antisemitism. They called him “a dirty Jew.” They taunted him with swastikas. They subjected him to “Heil Hitler” salutes in class.
He and his parents, Stacey and Ben, reached out to teachers, counselors and school administrators. They offered words of support, but nothing changed — until you got involved through ADL.

“As it kept increasing in frequency, our heartache turned to anger,” Stacey says.
“I reached out to ADL for advice. I needed support to parent (Mason) through this, and the bigger question of, how do I help my community?”
Stacey, Ben and a friend organized a petition that led the school board to finally take action. Through the petition, the community came together and demanded proper training for teachers, so all educators know how to spot hate — and stop hate. Backed by ADL, and with the power of your generosity, this community was able to declare it would not accept antisemitism or bigotry.
