Detroit DSA is proud to announce our endorsement of Landis Spencer for District 6 Board of Police Commissioners. Landis is a proud Detroiter and socialist living in District 6. He is Co-Chair of the Black & Brown Alliance of DSA and has been leading our chapters fight to show our government that Black Lives Matter.



Detroiters need health care, mental health services, fully funded public schools, not police brutality. We deserve a true representative of District 6 who will listen and be a voice for the people. Someone who will protect our civil rights and return the Board of Police Commissioners to its original purpose, which is real civilian oversight of the Detroit Police Department.

D12 - Fight For Our Lives! Day of Action

Saturday, December 12th at 4PM



Detroit DSA is joining 25 other DSA chapters across the country to demand a COVID response that helps the working class, along with a Green New Deal. On the weekend of December 12 (“D12”), our coordinated actions will help shift the national narrative.



Join us as we lay out the groundwork for Detroit's place in the green future and share your personal story about the COVID and the climate crisis. We'll be guiding attendees through a mass digital action and viewing a short doc as well. Hope to see you there!

ABCS of Socialism: Why the Working Class?

Tuesday, December 15th at 6:30PM



Why are leftists always talking about the working class? What unique power does the working class hold, and how might we leverage it to overthrow capitalism? And, crucially, what roadblocks have kept us from doing so already?



In this night school class we'll explore the answers to these questions, and examine some modern-day examples of working class people challenging ruling class power, with varying degrees of success--and look at roadmaps forward.
