Freedom Partners sent us back for Shanti.

Last year, we accompanied police on an operation to help find and rescue a 13-year-old girl named Shanti* and three other young girls from sex trafficking.



But as soon as the operation began, it was clear that something was wrong. Shanti’s trafficker moved her and three other young girls to a different location before we arrived.

The rescue operation failed.

This might have been the end of the story. But because of Freedom Partners, this story has a better ending.

Just a couple of weeks after our initial operation, the consistent, dependable support of Freedom Partners helped IJM rejoin authorities and find Shanti before she could be sold and raped again. During this time, it was revealed that one of the young girls who was trafficked with Shanti was the trafficker’s own daughter.

Today, Shanti and the other girls are free, and they are healing in a safe place, far from the reach of traffickers.
