Maya is a lifelong civil rights activist and lawyer. And she has the
experience New York needs to build back from this pandemic.

As Counsel to the Mayor in City Hall, Maya delivered for New Yorkers on
some of the biggest issues facing the city, from defending civil rights
and boosting minority and women-owned businesses to expanding broadband
access to New Yorkers throughout the city.

After her time in City Hall, Maya chaired the Civilian Complaint Review
Board, where she worked to hold police accountable to the people of New
York.

She’s exactly the kind of leader New York City needs. But this is going to
be an uphill fight. Many of Maya’s opponents are backed by some of
America’s biggest corporate interests and Wall Street banks. She’s
counting on overwhelming grassroots support to win.
