Phoenix from the Flames

In July, we emailed you about a massive fire that razed a New Jersey egg farm-killing almost 300,000 trapped hens.

Thanks to quick mobilization from other Sanctuaries and activists, 230 hens escaped the wreckage-and 40 now live at our Sanctuary in New York. Through a social media naming contest, our members and supporters named 4 of the the hens: Phoenix, Khaleesi, Gloria Gaynor, and Henrietta. Like the mythological phoenix, these birds have risen from the flames to start life anew.
