Phoenix from the Flames
|
In July, we emailed you about a massive fire that razed a New Jersey egg farm—killing almost 300,000 trapped hens.
Thanks to quick mobilization from other Sanctuaries and activists, 230 hens escaped the wreckage—and 40 now live at our Sanctuary in New York. Through a social media naming contest, our members and supporters named 4 of the hens: Phoenix, Khaleesi, Gloria Gaynor, and Henrietta. Like the mythological phoenix, these birds have risen from the flames to start life anew.
Read this story for an in-depth look at how Farm Sanctuary rescues and delivers critical care for farm animals.
