The idea was to extend the biggest shopping weekend of the year to include a worldwide celebration of generosity and provide individuals with a specific occasion for making donations to their favorite charities and advocacy groups. As a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and advancement of sound environmental, energy, and conservation policies, we sincerely believe ConservAmerica is a worthwhile and deserving choice for your support. If you agree, please consider making a donation through this link <[link removed]> today to help us reach our Giving Tuesday goal. Any amount is helpful in furthering our efforts. We know it has been a very difficult year—so we are grateful to have your support regardless of your ability to give. But as a reminder of why our work is important, please review our values <[link removed]> , and know that we will continue to provide leadership on energy, environmental, and conservation issues based on the principles of respect for free markets, property rights, and personal responsibility. While some call these principles “conservative,” we think they just make common sense. Read below to learn about some of our latest efforts, and before you close this message, please take the time right now to make your donation <[link removed]> . As always, thank you for being part of ConservAmerica! ConservAmerica Monthly News Watch Our Next Webinar Live This Thursday! Register here <[link removed]> to join ConservAmerica, Bracewell Partner Scott H. Segal, and E&E Reporter Lesley Clark for a webinar this Thursday at 2:00 PM Eastern. We will focus on energy and environment legislation and regulation in the lame-duck and next year under a Biden administration, as well as provide an update on the transition process. You can also watch one of our previous webinars, featuring Clinton White House official, Roger Ballentine, which was recorded before the election and focused on climate policy in a potential Biden Administration. Trump Administration Rejects Proposed Pebble Mine Throughout the year, ConservAmerica has advocated against federal approval of a mining project on Alaska’s Bristol Bay. Among other efforts, we hosted a webinar <[link removed]> , issued statements <[link removed]> , and wrote op-eds <[link removed]> and letters to policymakers <[link removed]> opposing the project. Given the size of the deposit and its location near the headwaters of a prized salmon fishery, it was a project that simply presented too many risks to be in the public interest. Last week, after the Army Corps of Engineers denied the permit, we released a statement <[link removed]> applauding the Trump Administration in reaching the correct outcome while allowing the federal review process to run its course without political interference. Jeff Kupfer Pens Op-Ed in Napa Valley Register Urging Wildfire Mitigation and Resiliency ConservAmerica President Jeff Kupfer recently co-authored an op-ed along with National Wildlife Federation president, Colin O’Mara, warning of wildfire dangers and encouraging policymakers to embrace pre-disaster mitigation approaches that will not only protect our communities but also save taxpayer dollars. The combination of both government and individual action will better protect individuals, homes, and businesses from wildfires while reducing the post-disaster recovery burden. ConserveAmerica’s Brent Fewell Leads EarthxPolicy Discussion on the Supreme Court Our own Brent Fewell recently conducted an EarthxPolicy <[link removed]> discussion with Jonathan Adler, a prominent environmental lawyer and professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, to review several high-profile environmental decisions by the Supreme Court and explore the implications on the future of environmental law under an increasingly conservative composition. Other Monthly News ACE Act Signed by President Trump President Trump signed America's Conservation Enhancement (ACE) Act (S. 3051) into law earlier this month. The bipartisan effort helps conserve wildlife and wildlife habitat, while also protecting hunters and anglers, and reauthorizes several important conservation statutes, including the North American Wetlands Conservation Act, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Act, and the Chesapeake Bay Program. Manchin 'Optimistic' on Prospects for Passing Major Clean Energy Bill in Lame Duck Congress Policymakers are optimistic that energy legislation and increases in program funding can be moved in the lame duck session of Congress, including potential action on the American Energy Innovation Act (AEIA).
