The season of Advent helps us create space to feel both the anticipation of the Christmas season and the disappointment that is so often wrapped up in it. Amidst a year that has looked far different than anyone expected or planned, we need a place to process, grieve, and hope.

In Advent we celebrate Jesus’ coming, and we long for His return. We remember that He came to a world much like our own — full of tension, injustice, and suffering. But we look forward to the day when He will bring peace, equity, and joy.

Amidst a busy time of year, our FREE 2020 Field Guide to Advent devotional [link removed] is designed to help you read God’s Word, reflect on His promises, and respond in daily life. It is intended to help you lean into the waiting, while you listen and learn.

May we welcome this unexpected Advent season — the joy and longing, hope and aching — believing that it is meant to show us more of the One who is our help and hope. He is God With Us.
