The season of Advent helps us create space to feel both the anticipation of the Christmas season and the disappointment that is so often wrapped up in it. Amidst a year that has looked far different than anyone expected or planned, we need a place to process, grieve, and hope. In Advent we celebrate Jesus’ coming, and we long for His return. We remember that He came to a world much like our own — full of tension, injustice, and suffering. But we look forward to the day when He will bring peace, equity, and joy.
