Inside the Numbers
With Congress back in session for the fall, we wanted to take a moment to remind our partners engaged in immigration advocacy about a resource that we hope you will find helpful in your work, our report, Inside the Numbers: How Immigration Shapes Asian American and Pacific Islander Communities ([link removed]) . The report, which was released this summer, details the diversity of the immigrant population within the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.
Over 12 million Asian immigrants and 220,000 Pacific Islander immigrants live in the United States, yet they are often overlooked in domestic policies and immigration policy. In order to protect our communities against anti-immigrant policies and effectively advocate for laws and policies that welcome and benefit AAPI immigrants, we need to build greater understanding of the AAPI immigrant population. Inside the Numbers ([link removed]) provides disaggregated data on Asian American and Pacific Islander ethnic groups, background on the immigration pathways AAPIs take to come to the United States, analysis of the fractures in our immigration system, and recommendations for policy change.
The 80-page report is available online here. ([link removed]) In addition, the issue briefs contained in the report can be downloaded individually:
* Family Immigration ([link removed])
* Immigrant Workers ([link removed])
* Undocumented Immigrants ([link removed])
* Rescission of DACA and TPS ([link removed])
* Muslim and Refugee Bans ([link removed])
* Immigration Enforcement: Arrests, Detention, and Deportation ([link removed])
* Naturalization ([link removed])
Our website also features interactive online content ([link removed]) , including a map that provides additional details about the size of the AAPI immigrant population by county.
We hope that you will find Inside the Numbers: How Immigration Shapes Asian American and Pacific Islander Communities ([link removed]) helpful in your efforts to build better understanding of the changing demographics of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities and provide a way forward to help our communities thrive.
