Attorney of Los Angeles — but he’s already bringing HUGE change to the
most incarcerated city in the world.

Leading up to his election, this was the state of Los Angeles under
previous DA Jackie Lacey’s rule:

* ⁣LA has more death row prisoners than any county in the United States.
* LA incarcerates more people than almost any country in the world.
* The LAPD kills more people per year than almost any country in the
world. ⁣

It’s only been 6 days since George won his race, but he’s already leading
a MAJOR transformation of the face of justice in Los Angeles:

* Earlier this week, Gascón met with Black Lives Matters organizers
along with families of people who died after interactions with law
enforcement in LA County. This is a major shift. The Black Lives
Matter movement had a tumultuous relationship with the DA Jackie
Lacey, who often ignored demands to address police brutality.
* George announced he’d immediately stop seeking the death penalty in LA
County.
* George pledged to immediately stop prosecuting children as adults.
* And he’s just getting started.

This kind of change isn’t limited to Los Angeles and the work starts long

throughout the United States.

well-funded groups who will spend big to protect prisons and police. But
time and time again, we proved that with enough people pitching in, we can
win. After George’s victory, we’re fired up and hungry to score more big
victories and grow our movement for justice.
