National Nurse Practitioner Week is November 8-14, and an opportunity—as the American Association of Nurse Practitioners says—to highlight the breadth and depth of the role and the critical difference NPs make in the lives of patients, especially during the pandemic. At a virtual conference aptly named “In Crisis and Calm: Leading With Purpose,” the American Academy of Nursing has inducted its 2020 fellows. New AARP Tool Tracks Nursing Homes During Pandemic
Nursing home residents are especially vulnerable to COVID-19, but until now there’s been little coordinated tracking of the spread of the virus in these facilities and how well-equipped they are. The AARP Nursing Home COVID-19 Dashboard changes that. The recently launched tracker points to where resources are most needed by identifying areas of concern at the national and state levels.

NAM Report Looks at Well-Being of LGBTQI+ Populations
It takes data to provide culturally responsive and clinically appropriate care. That’s one reason the National Academy of Medicine has released Understanding the Well-Being of LGBTQI+ Populations, an examination of the mental and physical health of this population as well as their well-being in terms of family, community and more. Updated Code of Ethics for Nurses Invites Comments
The International Council of Nurses is revising its Code of Ethics for Nurses in response to the realities of nursing and health care, as it has done periodically since the code was introduced in 1953. The latest version of the code, to be launched in 2021, has undergone a review by members of the ICN board and is open now to comments from others. Deadline to review: November 22.

RWJF Seeks Applications for Racial Equity Research
Achieving racial equity in the U.S. requires a multipronged policy approach. To that end, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation seeks proposals from organizations and interdisciplinary research teams to build evidence about how national, state, and local policies can decrease racial inequities in health and well-being. Application deadline: November 24.

Participate in Testing the Board Engagement Survey
Calling all registered nurses (RNs) and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs): have you served for at least one year on a board of directors with fiduciary responsibilities? You may be eligible to participate in a study, approved by the University of Massachusetts Boston Institutional Review Board, to test an instrument aimed at measuring the engagement of nurses on boards. Take the survey and share this message with your RN and APRN colleagues. Deadline: December 31.
