The Asian Americans Advancing Justice affiliation, a group of five, independent Asian American civil rights organizations, issues a statement following election night results:

In this time of the pandemic and increased use of mail-in and absentee ballots, we knew there was a chance that we might not know the winner of the Presidential election on Tuesday night, but democracy depends on trust in the elections. Every vote counts, and it takes time to count every vote so we must prove that nothing will stop us from confirming the will of the people. When we stick with the process for counting every vote, we demonstrate our deep commitment to democracy–even when that takes time to do. Asian Americans Advancing Justice is committed to ensuring that everyone, including Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, are heard and represented in an equitable democracy.
