This doesn’t have to be the longest day of all time

It’s here. Finally. ELECTION DAY.

Whether this is your first Election Day as a voter or your hundredth (we're a little too busy juggling text bank and writing this to do the math on a more realistic number), we want to let you in on a little secret:

While there will be plenty of exciting news to consume once polls start closing tonight, there won’t be much new information at all during the day. No results will be official. You don't need to pay attention to exit polls. If you like riding a hamster wheel of anxiety, staying glued to social media and cable news might be for you. But if you're looking for a productive outlet for your nervous energy, keep reading.

Campaigns still need volunteers to make calls and send texts to reach those final few voters before polls close tonight. For example, this morning North Carolina released the names of all voters who requested absentee ballots, but have not yet voted. The North Carolina Dems plan on calling each and every one of these voters. In a state that Trump won by 173,000 votes in 2016, every one of those votes could make a difference.

A friendly voice on the line (yours!) reminding them where their polling place is, when it’s open, and that they have the right to stay in line and make their voice heard could be the difference between a narrow win or loss in critical states.
