File this away in "good stuff to know."
I had food poisoning this week and was down for the count for four days.
(It's why I skipped a few days posting and emailing - sorry about that!)
Anyway, I ended up hacking together a homemade electrolyte drink out of
stuff I had lying around the apartment and it's so easy that I wanted to
share it with you guys.
At its most basic, an electrolyte drink is very simple.
1 tsp of salt, 2 tbsp of sugar, and a quart (or liter) of water.
That's it.
Keep this in mind if you have a situation where someone is likely to
become dehydrated because of illness or heat - you don't need the fancy
storebought stuff and pretty much everyone possesses these ingredients.
This is also important to me because I'm mobile. I travel full time so I
like little hacks that allow me to meet my needs even in unfamiliar
surroundings.  You can cobble it together at a hotel, a gas station,
or a fast-food restaurant with the little packets - sugar packets are 1
tsp so you'd need 6 of them, and 12 salt packets make a teaspoon.
You can throw in anything you want for flavor - a slice of lemon, lime,
or orange, or a squirt from one of those squeezy bottles. You can even
use unsweetened Koolaid or another drink mix for a finicky person.
I hope you guys are having a good weekend!

HOW TO SURVIVE CIVIL UNREST AND RIOTS
We here at The Organic Prepper website are sincerely hoping that the
week ahead is peaceful. But as tensions build around the outcome of the
election, we strongly recommend being prepared for the possibility that
you could experience civil unrest or riots in your area.
For advice on preparing for this, check out Selco's on-demand webinar
and listen as he, Toby Cowern, and I discuss how to prepare for and
survive unrest in a variety of settings.
