Friend--I promised you I'd be in touch with my response to the first Democratic debate.

I have the utmost respect for my colleagues and fellow competitors in this race, and I saw lots of great ideas on stage: for immigration reform, for gun violence prevention, and for mitigating climate change.

But what matters isn't just ideas, it's getting things done. Experience matters--a track record matters. Progress cannot be conjured out of thin air. It takes time and it takes work.

Before I go onstage for my own debate tomorrow, my team will show me the list of everyone who's stepped up in the last week to become a Debate Donor--everyone willing to go on the record with their belief in this campaign and in what we can actually accomplish if we work together.
