Friend—I promised you I’d be in touch with my response to the first Democratic debate.

I have the utmost respect for my colleagues and fellow competitors in this race, and I saw lots of great ideas on stage: for immigration reform, for gun violence prevention, and for mitigating climate change.

But what matters isn’t just ideas, it’s getting things done. Experience matters—a track record matters. Progress cannot be conjured out of thin air. It takes time and it takes work.

Before I go onstage for my own debate tomorrow, my team will show me the list of everyone who's stepped up in the last week to become a Debate Donor—everyone willing to go on the record with their belief in this campaign and in what we can actually accomplish if we work together.

Friend, I hope I’ll see your name on that list—and if you’ve already given (thank you!), I hope you’ll consider chipping in again to get us closer to our goal by tomorrow night.
