Friend,

Why are we working to flip states blue? Because states pass policies that
affect our lives.

[1]States Pass Policies That Affect Our Lives

From healthcare to racial justice, the laws that impact our lives the most
are often passed by states—not by the federal government. Below, we’ve
rounded up helpful Flippable resources to keep you informed about urgent
state issues.

Read on to see how your state leaders’ decisions can affect you, your
family, & your community.

[2]State of the States

States can stand up for our communities

Same-sex marriage was legal in 12 states—plus Washington, D.C.—before the
Supreme Court ruled it a Constitutional right. Blue states, including
California and Connecticut, have banded together to cut carbon emissions
by more than 30% while the federal government continues to invest in coal.
Massachusetts took action to protect abortion rights after Justice Brett
Kavanaugh was nominated to the Supreme Court.

States can keep us healthy

In 2017, our community powered historic flips in the Virginia House of
Delegates. Our candidates led the fight that expanded
Medicaid—bringing healthcare coverage to over 400,000 Virginians. Across
the country, [ [link removed] ]Flippable's elected candidates have gotten straight to
work for their constituents.

States can fight for racial justice

In 2017, we helped elect Jennifer Carroll Foy to the Virginia House of
Delegates. During her first year in office, Jennifer co-sponsored
legislation that raised the state’s grand larceny threshold as part of her
work to end the school-to-prison pipeline.
