Through this event, diners will enjoy some of the best food the area has to offer at special prices. Now, more than ever, restaurants need our support. Arlington Restaurant Week is designed to help local restaurants gain exposure through extensive media promotion and to attract new patrons through experiencing their food. The Chamber is pleased to announce that the late Erik Gutshall is our 2020 inductee into the Arlington Business Hall of Fame. This meeting will cover both the General Assembly and Local Government positions. This meeting is open exclusively to members of the Chamber. Virtual Networking Mixer Thursday, October 22 | 5:00-6:00 p.m. Virtual Event Join the Arlington Chamber of Commerce for a free Virtual Networking Mixer to unwind, and connect with your fellow members. Hosted over the Zoom platform, this virtual meeting will give attendees a chance to connect and catch up while we are all socially distanced. Be sure to sign up soon! Registration: Members - Free (Optional Contribution) Prospective Members - $25 REGISTER Transportation Advocacy The Chamber wrote two letters in regard to transportation over the past week. The first opposed a proposed WMATA Service Reduction plan. Reducing service could lead to further economic consequences, the impacts of which are likely to be felt most strongly by people who can least afford them. The Chamber believes that maintaining the current service levels is essential to help riders feel comfortable that they can socially distance on Metro services. Read more here. The second letter was written in support of the 495 NEXT project. The project proposes a plan to extend the 495 Express Lanes from their current terminus north to the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Expanding the lanes will improve travel for all modes on and connecting to the Capital Beltway. Express Lane users will gain new connections to the Dulles Toll Road and George Washington Memorial Parkway, two important regional arterials, promoting connectivity across Northern Virginia. RECENT ADVOCACY How COVID is Changing Your Electric Usage, Creating a Disaster for the Unprepared Scott Reamy, Manager Electric Distribution Design, Dominion Energy COVID is changing how business is conducted across the Commonwealth. As the weather begins to cool, and temporary accommodations are made to adhere to local guidelines, businesses, such as bars and restaurants, may begin to install electric heaters, lighting, audio equipment, and other electronics that require additional electricity. It is important to understand how much available load you have in your panel box and whether any additional work needs to be done to accommodate new electric load.
