Hi John!

It's been a busy week for socialists in Silicon Valley. Our SocFem Working Group held an Expose Fake Clinics Review-A-Thon to fight "Crisis Pregnancy Centers" (jointly with our comrades from DSA Peninsula) our Healthcare Working Group tabled for Medicare for All, and we held organizing meetings for SocFem, Electoral, Labor, Housing, and Political Education - whew!

As always, if you're curious about socialism and want to fight for change, our chapter is there for you.

Coming up, we want to highlight Friday's anti-ICE mobilization and our SV DSA Fall Chapter Meeting, as well as some ways you can become a leader in DSA.


** Fri, 9/13: Rally at Palantir
------------------------------------------------------------

On Friday at 4pm, we will join the Close the Concentration Camps Coalition for an emergency mobilization at Palantir, 100 Hamilton Ave in Palo Alto. Palantir must drop its ICE contract by September 20 - #NoTechForICE!

** Sat, 9/14: SV DSA Fall Chapter Meeting
------------------------------------------------------------

We're going Back to (Organizing) School! Join us September 14 from noon to 5:00pm for trainings on important organizing skills: canvassing, tabling, facilitation, and more!

Our meeting will also feature an anti-ICE panel discussion, an activities fair and breakouts hosted by our Working Groups, delicious food, and tunes from our Marching Band.
Make sure to RSVP ([link removed]) so we can organize food, childcare, carpooling, and more. Bonus socialism points if you'd like to volunteer! 🌹


** Building DSA

Want to get more involved in DSA? Here's some things you might be interested in:
* Open positions. Some of our working groups and our Lower Peninsula (LP) branch are looking for volunteers to step up as Working Group co-chairs, Harassment Grievance Officers, and Branch Officers. Check out our vacancy interest form ([link removed]) .
* Bringing (Y)DSA to campus. If you're a student or campus community member, let use know ([link removed]) ! We're hoping to support organizing at local colleges, universities, and high schools. (See below for details on our weekly office hour calls.)
* Chat with us one-on-one. You can request a one-on-one ([link removed]) with an SV DSA officer or mobilizer, and we will work with you so you can make an impact.

Members of SV DSA will be hanging out at Backyard Brew in Palo Alto on Tuesday. Use this space to work on DSA projects or just to do your own thing as you hang out with comrades. We will put a red flag with the DSA logo at our table so you can find us.


** AfroSOC Caucus Meeting

Our first meeting for our brand new Afrosocialists & Socialists of Color Caucus! We will be strategizing how to support, develop, and retain our Afro/POC membership, and discussing how to continue the legacy of black radical tradition, as well as the radical traditions of other people of color.
