Why Recruit?
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest and fastest growing socialist organization in the United States with more than 72,000 members and over 200 chapters across the country and every state. Together, we work to build a mass movement that can stop evictions, defund the police, win Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and so much more.
We seek to organize the working class into fights against bosses, landlords, corporations, and corrupt politicians -- to take back power from them. Our power comes from our strength in numbers, and when we stand together we can win our transformative demands.
What is the DSA100k Drive?
At the 2019 DSA National Convention, delegates from around the country established a goal of growing our membership to 100k. DSA National’s Growth and Development Committee has developed a national recruitment drive that runs from October 1st through November 7th.
The heart of the national recruitment drive is the DSA 100k Pledge <[link removed]>, which all members are encouraged to take. The pledge involves identifying three people that you think would be willing to join DSA if asked. Each person that takes the pledge will be given a custom referral link to share with family, friends, and co-workers!
There is also aleaderboard that will display the names of individual members and chapters <[link removed]> to reflect efforts during the recruitment drive.
The first 500 people to reach their goal of recruiting 3 new members will get a limited-edition DSA hat, and the next 1000 will also get some special swag. You’ll be able to demonstrate your participation and pride building a mass socialist organization!
DSA Ventura County is also giving away some special prizes to our chapter members! The first member to recruit 3 new members, and the member to be the top of the leaderboard at the end of the drive will win your choice of a sweater/hoodie, two shirts, or flag from the DSA store <[link removed]>.
How Will DSA Ventura County Participate?
The goal nationally is to recruit 5,000 new members, and for every chapter to increase its membership by 10%. For Ventura County DSA - that would be recruiting just 20 new members. Our chapter is excited to onboard new members, so we plan to discuss the drive at all chapter events through Nov. 7th, and promote national training and resources.
