Greetings friends.



Amid the ongoing social and economic crises, Governor Gavin Newsom has a chance to defend hospitality workers across California by signingAB3216 <[link removed]>into law.The bill, which has passed both houses of the state legislature, would give hospitality workers the "Right of Recall" -- the opportunity to return to their workplaces by seniority when the work returns, instead of potentially being passed over for younger, cheaper labor.



But time is running out -- Governor Newsom has until tomorrow evening (Wednesday 9/30) to sign the bill, and he's being pressured by the hotel industry not to do so.?



As a result, hospitality workers and clergy from around the state have began caravans to the state capitol last week, and have just launched a hunger strike as well, and have been doing daily delegations to visit Governor Newsom. Last week workers? delivered a letter from over 50 members of Jesuit West province demanding the passage of AB 3216, and?the workers' fight has been covered in the Jesuit publication, America Magazine <[link removed]>, but still no movement from our Governor.
