Haiti is a country with a rich cultural legacy of music and art, a
landscape of both beaches and mountains, and a diverse population of
resilient people. It is also the poorest country in the Americas. More
than half of the population is living in extreme poverty. In recent years,
political unrest, coupled with a spiraling economy and rising food prices
have created a severe food crisis.

The spread of the coronavirus compounded by the threat of hurricanes is
likely to drive millions of people deeper into crisis levels of hunger.
Already more than 3.67 million Haitians are facing emergency or crisis
levels of food insecurity after the protests and economic disruptions last
year. A recent UN report predicted this will rise to more than 4.1
million.

We are working hard to provide emergency relief, spreading awareness about
how families can protect themselves from COVID‑19 and empowering
communities to become better prepared for future hurricanes.

Our Haitian team members have a unique and personal understanding of the
issues facing our country and our individual communities. Should another
hurricane strike, we can mobilize an emergency response at a moment’s
