Make a lifesaving gift to our Global Emergency Response Fund by midnight tomorrow ▸ |
As we speak, Haitians face a deadly triple threat: an extreme hunger crisis, a severe hurricane season and the spread of COVID‑19. Our teams in Haiti and in crisis spots around the world are doing everything possible to help, but we need to do more: Will you make a gift to our Global Emergency Response Fund by MIDNIGHT tomorrow? Haiti is a country with a rich cultural legacy of music and art, a landscape of both beaches and mountains, and a diverse population of resilient people. It is also the poorest country in the Americas. More than half of the population is living in extreme poverty. In recent years, political unrest, coupled with a spiraling economy and rising food prices have created a severe food crisis. The spread of the coronavirus compounded by the threat of hurricanes is likely to drive millions of people deeper into crisis levels of hunger. Already more than 3.67 million Haitians are facing emergency or crisis levels of food insecurity after the protests and economic disruptions last year. A recent UN report predicted this will rise to more than 4.1 million. We are working hard to provide emergency relief, spreading awareness about how families can protect themselves from COVID‑19 and empowering communities to become better prepared for future hurricanes. Our Haitian team members have a unique and personal understanding of the issues facing our country and our individual communities. Should another hurricane strike, we can mobilize an emergency response at a moment’s notice. But our team needs your support. Please, make a gift before midnight tomorrow to help people facing crises in Haiti and across the globe.

Mercy Corps has set a goal to raise $100,000 by September 30 to fund our global team’s lifesaving efforts responding to emergencies in Haiti, Lebanon, Syria and around the world. But we’re still falling short of our goal, and the deadline is tomorrow. If you can, please help us raise these critical funds with your gift today. With gratitude, Mercy Corps Haiti Deputy Manager, Cash-Based Assistance Cassendy has worked for over 10 years in food security and cash transfer programming in emergency and recovery contexts. He and his team support communities to plan for disasters, and then coordinate cash transfers through mobile phones to help people bounce back from crisis. |
