_A note on the Speech from the Throne from your Green Party Caucus:_

Hi Friend,

Justin Trudeau and the Liberals presented their Throne Speech last
Wednesday. The speech laid out the government's priorities and asked for
our confidence in their administration. Their plan for "a stronger and more
resilient Canada" is commendable but GREENS KNOW ALL TOO WELL THAT NICE
WORDS ARE HOLLOW WITHOUT ACTION.

As a second wave of the virus hits our cities and forest fires rage along
the pacific coast, engulfing many of our cities in smoke, we're feeling the
double impact of climate change and COVID and Canadians are looking to
Ottawa for real leadership that will address these unprecedented
challenges.

We are glad to know that the Liberals are working to help Canadians through
this crisis with CERB replacement programs and by improving COVID testing
but we can't help but feel like they're missing the big picture.

[1]

WE WANT TO BE OPTIMISTIC. The Liberals have put the right words on paper:

* Net zero carbon emissions by 2050
* Legislation to implement the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous
Peoples (UNDRIP)
* National Pharmacare

But if this sounds familiar to you, that's because it is. This Liberal
government has made these promises before and failed to act.

Greens have called out hollow promises before. We will never abandon the
demands of science. Our caucus will press for assurance that this Speech
from the Throne is more than empty words. With three MPs, in the last year
we have pushed and achieved more real change than any of the larger
parties. We were so disappointed that the NDP never even mentioned climate
in their bottom line for supporting the Liberals. But, then again, they
know they cannot afford an election. Opportunism trumps principle in other
parties.

IN JUST FIVE DAYS, WE WILL ELECT A NEW LEADER OF THE GREEN PARTY OF CANADA.
