Nine. That’s the number of known red wolves left in the wild, according to
scientists studying the dwindling population. Intensive, misguided predator
control programs and habitat loss have driven this species to the very brink of
extinction in the wild. This could be our last chance to act.

that we doubled our goal to $18,000!

The red wolf is the world’s most endangered wolf. For a while, successful
captive breeding and reintroduction programs showed promise. But inaction,
mismanagement, and illegal killings quickly undid decades of hard conservation
work.

The number of wild red wolves peaked in 2006 at 130. Now, there are just nine.

decline of these critically endangered wolves, and protect other endangered
