John,
Nine. That’s the number of known red wolves left in the wild, according to scientists studying the dwindling population. Intensive, misguided predator control programs and habitat loss have driven this species to the very brink of extinction in the wild. This could be our last chance to act.
We asked you to help us raise $9,000 for red wolves, so many of you stepped up that we doubled our goal to $18,000!
We still need your help to reach this new goal. Will you please give $30 or any amount you can to support our efforts to turn the tragic decline of red wolves into a conservation success story?
The red wolf is the world’s most endangered wolf. For a while, successful captive breeding and reintroduction programs showed promise. But inaction, mismanagement, and illegal killings quickly undid decades of hard conservation work.
The number of wild red wolves peaked in 2006 at 130. Now, there are just nine.
With your help and your $30 today, we can reach our new $18,000 goal, stop the decline of these critically endangered wolves, and protect other endangered species with hauntingly familiar stories.
Passionate conservationists like yourself simply refuse to turn their backs on the magnificent species that make our wild lands so great. Please lend your support to our conservation army and together we can raise $18,000 to reverse the decline of red wolves and help us fight for wildlife on all fronts.
Thank you for your generous support.
