This document includes reviews from other national organizations, including NASN, who served as a member of the work group that developed the considerations and FAQs around specific vision screening questions during the pandemic. Managing Chronic Health Conditions Online CNE: Skills-Based Approach to Managing Chronic Health Conditions in Schools This CDC-funded educational program, developed in collaboration with school nurse experts from North Carolina, was originally an in-person program at the Healthy Schools Academy held at the CDC in February 2018. The course is now available online and free for NASN members and non-members. Access the course and earn 4.25 CNE. Improving School Community and Student Health Student Sleep Health Week Raises Awareness of Importance of Sleep Sleep, one of the three pillars of a healthy lifestyle, directly impacts the health and well-being of your student community. In fact, a recent survey from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) found that 44% of parents believe sleep has a large impact on their children’s physical and mental health. As students return to school – whether in-person, online or in a hybrid format – now is the perfect time to establish healthy sleep routines to best equip students for success – both in the classroom, and out. School nurses are crucial in both providing immediate care and fostering healthy lifestyle habits for the students within their community.
