As lawmakers continue to discuss coronavirus-related relief efforts, NAFCU Caucus attendees Monday got an inside look at what's happening on Capitol Hill from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., Senate Banking Committee Chairman Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, and Ranking Member Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio. While addressing attendees, all three senators noted the important work credit unions have done in serving members and aiding their communities.

During NAFCU's Congressional Caucus yesterday, both Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Mark Calabria and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Deputy Secretary Brian Montgomery offered insights into lessons learned from the housing crisis of 2008, steps taken to provide relief amid the coronavirus pandemic, and how they plan to ensure clarity and stability in the housing market moving forward.

The Department of Labor (DOL) has issued a temporary rule to address some issues with its implementation of public health emergency leave under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and emergency paid sick leave related to the coronavirus pandemic.


NCUA opens 2nd round of streamlined CDFI applications [ [link removed] ]
The NCUA has opened its second streamlined application round for federally-insured, low-income credit unions to become certified Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) through Oct. 17. The program guide to apply is available here.


NAFCU honors 2020 Annual Award winners [ [link removed] ]
