Friend, the news coming out of Nepal the last few days has been devastating following the catastrophic flash flood event. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening and how Americares is responding:

FIRST: A massive glacial avalanche sent a torrent of water, mud and ice toward villages along the Nepal-China border on Wednesday. Hundreds of people have been killed, thousands are missing and some 10,000 households are in need of immediate aid. 

THEN: Americares immediately reached out to frontline partners in Nepal. Our emergency response team is preparing to deploy to Kathmandu to assess urgent health needs of survivors in the hardest hit communities. We are rushing emergency funding to partner organizations in Nepal and are ready to provide medicines and relief supplies.
