NYT: Whistle-Blower Says USPS Is Secretly Proceeding on Trump’s Mail Voting Plan Before Midterms [[link removed]]
A U.S. Postal Service official filed a whistleblower report that was published this week, alleging that the agency is moving forward with a “ secretive, rushed ” effort to carry out President Trump’s order exerting federal control over mail voting , despite a court order blocking those plans.
North Carolina starts sending out mail-in ballots in a few days. Other states follow in the next few weeks. And the Trump appointees at the Postal Service are still pushing forward to implement Trump’s executive order on mail-in voting in a manner that will throw Americans’ ability to cast a mail-in ballot into jeopardy.
The report asserts " that the “ risky and haphazard ” implementation of Mr. Trump’s order could lead to a “ catastrophic failure ” in the mail ballot system ahead of this year’s midterm elections. "
The report also says that USPS had been planning to complete a system, known as the Federal Ballot Mail Portal, which would serve as a database for voter information that could be used to reject ballots . The report claims the target date for that new portal to go into service was September 1st.
John, this report is a chilling look inside the Trump plan to ignore court orders and subvert the Constitution. It is also a sign that we need to step up our efforts to inform voters and defend vote-by-mail. Chip in $35 or whatever you can today to help >> [[link removed]]

More from the whistleblower report: The USPS official, describing their work on the portal, raised “ grave concerns ” that the portal’s verification process could reject tens of thousands of ballots in a bulk-mailing batch if “ even one bar code on one single ballot ” failed to properly scan, and that the rushed, “ slapdash ” development of the portal would significantly increase the chance of errors and other failures in the verification process .
“ Potentially millions of American voters may not receive their mail-in ballot this election cycle in a timely manner, or at all, ” the official said in the report.
Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, who helped bring this report to light, said “ the whistleblower’s allegations make clear that USPS lacks the technical or operational capability needed to effectively implement the [Executive Order's] provisions in a way that safeguards every citizen’s right to vote in the upcoming midterm elections. Despite this, the Trump Administration appears intent on USPS moving forward with its flawed plans, no matter the chaos they may create .”
What can we do? If you vote by mail, get your ballot as soon as possible. If it doesn't come to you after your state starts sending them out, follow up, don't wait. Bring your completed ballot to a secure, safe local drop box, or take it directly to your local post office and ask for it to be postmarked there at the counter in front of you. Spread the word to your friends, your family, your neighbors, your colleagues, anyone who might use a mail-in ballot.
Opponents want to implement these rules last minute so no court can stop them. They're trying to engineer chaos in our elections and make you distrustful of the results. We can't let them win -- which is why we're asking you to help us out with $35 or whatever you can give today so we can reach every eligible voter and make their vote count >> [[link removed]]

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.
Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
