The Year to FLIP the Legislature
📋👟 The Path to Victory is Clearer than Ever: After 10 years of tireless work trying to elect a pro-public education legislature that will prioritize and fund schools worthy of our incredible students and educators, the data shows that the path to victory is finally here – if we all roll up our sleeves and put in the work in the 8 “battleground” districts that will make this win possible. [[link removed]] [[link removed]]
Arizona is one of the top battleground states in the entire country, and following electoral wins in purple and red states across the US [[link removed]] , it’s clear the electorate is moving quickly away from MAGA/Trump candidates. Republican Andy Biggs is trailing Governor Katie Hobbs in polling [[link removed]] , and his support for Trump is dragging him down.
We at SOSAZ are non-partisan, but that doesn’t mean we don’t take positions. And this year, all of our endorsements for the Legislature are Democrats because the battleground Republican candidates are as MAGA and anti-public education as they come. We are a grassroots team of volunteers of ALL political stripes and ALL walks of life who believe in public education and believe that strong public schools make a strong state. It’s that simple.
Voters often vote for high-profile races like governor and attorney general, but fail to vote down-ballot unless candidates and volunteers contact them. They need to hear from their neighbors who support these candidates – or they simply don’t vote.
The path to a pro-public education legislature runs through these Legislative Districts (LDs). So… let’s look at the map and the math!

The math is there for a strong path to victory:
* We are targeting 6 flippable State Senate seats; we must elect 2 out of 6 to tie or 3 out of 6 to flip the chamber.
* We are targeting 9 flippable State House seats; we must elect 3 out of 9 to tie or 4 out of 9 to flip the chamber.
* And of course – we must fight to protect those running for re-election.

We have 10 weeks left to educate voters in these 8 target districts to flip the state legislature to one that is pro-public education – so we are asking our volunteers to “adopt” a district and commit to volunteering there [[link removed]] – whether in person (canvassing or driving canvassers), or by phonebanking virtually with us.
