International Vulture Awareness Day 2025 is four weeks away
-----------------------------------------------------------
On Saturday, 5 September, it's [International Vulture Awareness Day (IVAD)]([link removed]) – a day for birds most people overlook or misunderstand, despite doing one of nature's most important jobs.
It's a chance to explain why vultures matter, why they need our help, and what people can do about it.
Even though 5 September is the official date, any activity between August and October can count as part of IVAD. The longer the conversation goes, the further vulture love travels.
How to get involved
-------------------
###**1. Organise an event **
There is still time to put an event together, whether you are a conservation organisation, a school, a zoo, or just a few people who care about vultures.
The [IVAD website]([link removed]) has event ideas, planning guidance, and ready-made resources like activity sheets. Once your details are set, [register your event]([link removed]) so more people can find it.

###**2. Join an activity**
Events are already planned across the world from August through October. Take your pick from [in-person and online options.]([link removed])
At VCF, we are running our own campaign this September, covering something we haven't talked much about before. Keep an eye on our [Facebook]([link removed]) and [Instagram]([link removed]) so you don't miss it.
###**3. Talk about vultures**
Tell a friend, colleague, or family member about the importance of vultures. Share a fact that surprises them, or [debunk the myths]([link removed]) that have given these birds an unfair reputation. If you need a starting point, the [IVAD factsheet]([link removed]) has good material, and the [social media toolkit]([link removed]) has ready-to-post content for your own socials.
Thank you for caring about vultures. However you get involved this year, every little action helps.
