WomenHeart Hosts Virtual National Hospital Alliance Conference
On July 28-29, 2020, WomenHeart hosted the annual National Hospital
Alliance (NHA) Conference. Focused on "Quality Care and Support
for Women Heart Patients," the conference was a success,
featuring 17 speakers and presentations on policy, patient support and
the latest in cardiac care. The virtual format not only allowed us to
reach an expanded audience beyond NHA members, to include WomenHeart
Champions, partner organizations and other providers, but it was
recorded and is available online with timestamps indicating specific
presentations. Click here to see Day One (July 28) and Day Two (July
29).

Take Action: Stop Surprise Bills
Tell Congress to act now to pass legislation that would protect
patients from surprise medical bills. No one should receive a
financially devastating medical bill because they called 911 when they
were having a heart attack or received the medical care they needed
from a provider they didn't know was out-of-network. Ask
Congress to pass a fix that holds patients harmless.

Heart Valve Disease Survey for Patients and Clinicians
WomenHeart is supporting research on why women, and especially women
of color, are often under-diagnosed and under-treated for heart valve
disease. Dr. Rachel Bond and her team at Dignity Health, an NHA member
in Arizona, are conducting the research. Women living with heart valve
disease are strongly encouraged to take this survey, which asks
questions about your experience with diagnosis and treatment.
Clinicians who treat patients with heart valve disease are strongly
encouraged to take this clinician survey. The deadline to complete the
surveys is September 30.
