Protect Education Sues AZ Legislature over Ballot Analysis đź’Ş
🛡️⚖️ Protect Education Files Suit: Protect Education has taken legal action against the Republican-led state legislative committee [[link removed]] , challenging their heavily biased and misleading ballot description. This language will be used for the November election’s publicity pamphlet, which is distributed to 4.3 million Arizona voters to help determine how they will vote. [[link removed]]
The lawsuit argues that the language passed by the committee to describe the Protect Education Act intentionally distorts the measure [[link removed]] , despite the law requiring the analysis to be fair and impartial. Attorney Bo Dul says the language “misrepresents the initiative’s provisions” and adds “language designed to cast the measure in the worst possible light, while also omitting accurate information that may cast the initiative in a favorable light.”
Dul added that the language added by Republicans “was intended to be inflammatory and clearly advocacy oriented and nowhere within the language of the initiative itself.”
Protect Education’s lawsuit also takes issue with the description of HCR 2048, a GOP "poison pill" measure designed to nullify the Protect Education Act [[link removed]] – even after voters approve it this November. The analysis entirely omits this fact, failing to inform voters of the true purpose of the measure: to void Protect Education.
These lawsuits will move quickly, as everything must be settled before ballots and publicity pamphlets are printed in late August. We will keep fighting the good fight; stay tuned!!

The lawmakers in charge at the state Capitol are beholden to voucher-pushing special interests, and they will stop at nothing to prevent Arizona voters from having a voter-protected say in ESA voucher reforms and how our tax dollars are used. Why? Because they’re scared. They’re seeing the polling, and they know that Arizona voters overwhelmingly support these common-sense reforms.

Voucher Watch
ProPublica released a scathing new report this week, [[link removed]] detailing the utter lack of regulation of private schools in states where taxpayer-funded private school vouchers are being pushed by special interests:

Arizona's top education official, Supt. Tom Horne, publicly lauded Mike Tyson as a "champion of education" for lending his name to a voucher-funded private school operating out of a strip mall.
Sadly, this is all too common: pop-up private schools are rampant because Arizona doesn’t require them to meet any academic standards, safety requirements, or financial oversight to accept hundreds of millions a year in taxpayer-funded ESA vouchers.
Despite the mountain of reporting, Republican lawmakers continue to reject all reforms to make the ESA voucher program safer, transparent, and accountable to Arizonans. THIS is why we must pass the Protect Education Act in November đź’Ş
