This moment has left many of us feeling helpless, overwhelmed, and
unsupported. 

We see cops helping white nationalists target and kill protestors on the
streets. We see the president pushing an agenda of racist, fear-mongering
lies. We see Black, brown, and allied bodies being brutalized and
disproportionately affected on all fronts. 

And so we ask: “What can be done to help right now?”

From the very beginning, Team Real Justice has been about a concrete path
to achieve meaningful progress to dismantle this system. In cities from
St. Louis to Philadelphia to Orlando to Portland, our strategy is
working. 

But this moment is a reminder of not only how much more we have to do, but
how hard we’ll have to fight just to protect the gains we’ve achieved
together.

Next month is full of opportunities for our movement of progress. As we
work to endorse brilliant new candidates and elect reform-minded leaders
in Lake County IL and Los Angeles, CA, we have a real chance to
drastically ramp up our power and see our victories through to the
November elections.

At its core, our work has been dedicated to revisiting and reimagining
public safety by completely transforming a system that was built on
principles of oppression and racism. 

Black and brown bodies will never be truly protected in this so-called
justice system. But together we can elect leaders who can start to bring
the safety and security these communities deserve.
