_Amílcar y Aníbal, dos jóvenes que trabajaron en nuestra
casa. __No sabían nada de sus nombres._
La memoria viveEn los nombres, los nombresDe las lucha eternaContra
Roma,La antigua y la nueva Roma,En los barrios de Nueva York,En la
calle 122, en la 123.Pero han olvidado la historia, el recuerdoQue
aún viveEn los nombres–-Amílcar, yAníbal: quienes, desde África
con elefantes,Abrieron la brechaEn la muralla de los Alpes.Pero los
jóvenes no conocen ni a Amílcar ni a Aníbal,Contra Roma,La antigua
y la nueva Roma.Solo conocen esto: los nombres–-Sin historia, sin
memoria.Solo los nombres.
History Lives
_Amílcar and Anibal, two young men who worked __on our house. They
knew nothing about their names._
Memory livesIn the names, the namesOf the eternal struggleAgainst
Rome,The old and the new Rome,In the neighborhoods of New York,On
122nd Street, on 123rd.But they have forgotten the history, the
memoryThat still livesIn the names–-Hamílcar, andHannibal: who,
from Africa with elephants,BreachedThe wall of the Alps.But the young
people Don’t know Hamílcar or Hannibal,Against Rome,The old and
the new Rome.They only know this: the names–-Without history,
without memory.Only the names.
