** Weekly Campaign Update
------------------------------------------------------------

What I’ve been up to:

Last week I spent some time as a Biden delegate experiencing my very first National Democratic Convention. It was all online and virtual; many voices outlined the priorities of the Biden/Harris ticket. The roll call of states casting nomination votes was amazing and very powerful. The diversity of voices combined with physical backgrounds in each state reminded me of what is so important to remember: we are one nation, with more diversity that any other. We are a land of opportunity and promise. A Biden/Harris administration will reflect that in every decision, from who will join the administration in the Cabinet and as heads of national agencies like the Environmental Protection and the Central Intelligence to the judges who would be nominated for Supreme Court and federal courts across the country.

Every vote matters, and I encourage everyone who gets this newsletter to “Gimme Five”. Find five friends or family members who may not be active in the political world. Maybe they are not even registered to vote, or if they are, may have not voted for some time. Explain that the results of local elections for City Council and School Board members and Township Trustees make a difference in their lives. Votes for their representatives in state government make a difference. Voting all the way down the ballot from the first choice for President to the last choice for judges or local school or fire or library levies makes a difference. Help your 5 get registered to vote if they are not, invite them to a virtual event you may be attending yourself. Talk with them about Democracy, which is an active endeavor. Talk about local issues, and share with your 5 how to get information about candidates and local issues. Talk about books you may be reading about racism as a public health crisis or the
history of voting rights. Make sure your “Gimme 5” members vote this year, either by mail or through Early Voting opportunities.

Our chosen form of government requires our active participation and careful attention. Help your five see that we can work together to increase opportunities for all Americans to live the American Dream. Help me fight against the divisiveness that threatens us. Help me restore respect and honor to our communities and guard against corruption. Help me counter any and all attempts to suppress our constitutional right to vote, and ensure our freedom to make our own decisions about the votes we cast. Help me work for a better future. I’ve got my 5. Do you?

Weekly Endorsements:

Recently several applications for endorsement that I submitted to unions and other groups were favorably reviewed by their screening teams. The most recent additions include the Ohio Manufacturers Association, The Ohio Environmental Council, OAPSE-AFSCME, the United Automotive Workers, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen. And I have been selected as a Canary Candidate by Senator Sherrod Brown, our senior US Senator in Ohio. See my website for the complete list.

Thank you all for the endorsements, I am so looking forward to continuing to fight for everyone.

Fundraising:

A big THANK YOU to those who have provided financial support to our campaign and helped us have the funds needed for a successful campaign. Together, we can continue the work to get our message out especially as we are not able to knock on doors and talk directly to voters. If you are able to make a contribution of any size, please visit our website for more information. Your support makes a big difference, and you have my thanks.

Thank you, any contribution makes a big difference!

Hello from the interns:

Hello! Alexis, Karis, and Sydney here! We make up the writing team within the internship’s communication division. Together, we have been working with Rep. Lightbody on writing and producing content to deliver information and spread awareness to her constituents about the issues that matter. Also, the three of us have been working hard and calling the people of district nineteen to speak to you on what you care about most! It’s always a pleasure to hear from the people of the district and it’s so rewarding to talk to the people who relate and care about Mary’s message! We hope everyone stays healthy, happy, and requests their absentee ballots.
