Dear John,

Our campaign is growing.

More and more trade bodies and activists are coming out in support of the Affordable Food Deal.

And now Jack Monroe, food writer and poverty campaigner, is rowing in behind the Affordable Food Deal. Food poverty is an issue close to Jack’s heart - an issue impacting the lives of millions of families across the UK.

Will you add your voice to the growing numbers <[link removed]>who support the Affordable Food Deal?

Make sure you’ve signed the petition. Together, we can halt the rise of food poverty. Sign the petition now.

Staples like pulses, baked beans and chopped tomatoes, are set to increase in price by up to a third if we don’t get a comprehensive trade deal with Europe.

Jack Monroe has prepared three delicious meals - all of which will become more expensive without an Affordable Food Deal. You can read Jack’s exclusive recipe for beef chili here <[link removed]>.

Right now, this meal for four costs just 73p per head. If we have to pay these new import taxes, this meal will cost £1.25 - that’s an increase of around 40%. <[link removed]>

For some households, these increases can add an unaffordable additional cost to their monthly budgets. It can knock families into a spiral of food insecurity and debt.

Food poverty already impacts 4.9 million adults plus 1.7 million children in the UK. Let’s make sure these figures aren’t made worse. Sign up to the Affordable Food Deal now.

Nutritious and affordable meals are set to increase in price substantially. This could have devastating consequences <[link removed]> for some families already struggling to put food on the table.

Let’s work together, to make sure our food remains affordable.

Best wishes,

Naomi Smith,
