Staples like pulses, baked beans and chopped tomatoes, are set to increase in price by up to a third if we don’t get a comprehensive trade deal with Europe.

Right now, this meal for four costs just 73p per head. If we have to pay these new import taxes, this meal will cost £1.25 - that’s an increase of around 40%.

For some households, these increases can add an unaffordable additional cost to their monthly budgets. It can knock families into a spiral of food insecurity and debt.
