Brave New Films is looking to make two short documentaries that focus on people who plan to vote by mail in the coming election in Georgia.

In the first documentary, they hope to make the connection between the personal story of why it is important for that individual to be able to vote by mail -- to leaders trying to stop people being able to vote by mail -- to the logistics of how it's done. In the end, the idea is to educate as many people as possible on how to vote by mail. We are especially interested in interviewing first-time voters who are navigating and excited to be voting for the first time.

For the second, they are looking to dive into the disparity of how COVID has affected various communities based on race and class. For this video they are looking to speak with individuals who have struggled during this time: either having lost a close family member, a job, struggled financially etc. We hope to hear their stories and give them a platform to share and expose the injustice ingrained in this pandemic.

These interviews will take place over zoom and be recorded through the application. If an individual does not have access to a computer, we can also record over a phone. If English isn't their first language, we can accommodate that as well.

** Speaking of Vote By Mail

Georgia allows all voters to request absentee ballots and vote by mail for any reason. We encourage all our members to request their ballots now for the November election and send them back ASAP. The Young Democrats of Georgia doesn't have a staff budget... yet. But we need to fill these positions now! If you have experience on a campaign or with an advocacy organization and are interested in leveraging your talents to support Young Democrats, we need you! ** Become a Poll Worker
------------------------------------------------------------

Poll workers (as opposed to poll “watchers”) are paid positions with your county of residence. We need good people working in polling locations across the State who are committed to providing access to the polls!

The counties train you, pay you, and you get to see the inner workings of election administration. Expect to work a full day on election day, and during the early vote period as well. To apply, you must be at least 16 years of age, and a resident of the county in which you are applying to work, and able to read, write, and understand English. You cannot be a candidate for public office, hold public office, or the close family member of a candidate or holder of public office.
