May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month - and while we celebrate our communities' incredible contributions to this country, there's a hidden crisis we cannot ignore.

Asian American young adults (age 15-24) are the only racial group in America with suicide being their leading cause of death.

It doesn't have to be this way.

This is the result of barriers that we can and must change: stigma that keeps families silent, language access gaps, too few culturally competent providers, and costs that put care out of reach.

I was proud to join Rep. Judy Chu and other Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) members last week in introducing a resolution recognizing May 10th as AANHPI Mental Health Day.
