John,
May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month - and while we celebrate our communities' incredible contributions to this country, there's a hidden crisis we cannot ignore.
Asian American young adults (age 15-24) are the only racial group in America with suicide being their leading cause of death.
It doesn't have to be this way.
This is the result of barriers that we can and must change: stigma that keeps families silent, language access gaps, too few culturally competent providers, and costs that put care out of reach.
I was proud to join Rep. Judy Chu and other Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) members last week in introducing a resolution recognizing May 10th as AANHPI Mental Health Day.
It’s an important step - but it cannot be the last. That's why I need you with me today.
Add your name right now and demand that AANHPI mental health gets the urgent attention it deserves:
As one of the first Korean-American women to serve in the House of Representatives, I know what it means to fight to be seen and heard - and I know our community's strength when we stand together.
Thank you for honoring our community this month through action,
Marilyn Strickland
