Are you guilty of this normalcy bias?

Believing that unrest and violence can't happen to you because you're
not in the city is one of the most dangerous failures of imagination in
the preparedness community.

It shows a troubling normalcy bias to believe that your location is
somehow charmed and therefore exempt from the chaos that is spreading
across the nation.

To be fair, I know of a few people who are remarkably skilled and
well-equipped but they are

**not** in the majority. They are people with years of experience in
catastrophic situations. They aren't Bob who sells insurance or Betty
who is a long-time member of the PTA.
