Believing that unrest and violence can't happen to you because you're not in the city is one of the most dangerous failures of imagination in the preparedness community.
It shows a troubling normalcy bias to believe that your location is somehow charmed and therefore exempt from the chaos that is spreading across the nation.
To be fair, I know of a few people who are remarkably skilled and well-equipped but they are not in the majority. They are people with years of experience in catastrophic situations. They aren't Bob who sells insurance or Betty who is a long-time member of the PTA.
