Today is May Day, or International Workers Day. Workers, students, families, and champion elected officials will rally, march, and take action across the country to demand a nation that puts workers over billionaires, with many refusing business as usual through No School. No Work. No Shopping.

Find a May Day action near you here ([link removed]) , and check out our Real Affordability Agenda ([link removed]) , released in partnership with May Day Strong ([link removed]) .

State Innovation Exchange ([link removed]) is proud to recognize nearly 100 state legislators across the country who have signed the #Listen2Workers pledge ([link removed]) , a public commitment to elevate the voices and policy agenda of workers in their districts.

Check in on SiX’s Instagram ([link removed]) page throughout the day to see legislators speaking out for workers rights!

The #Listen2Workers campaign was launched by SiX’s partners End Poverty in California ([link removed]) in collaboration with SEIU California ([link removed]) , BlackECE ([link removed]) , Caring Across Generations ([link removed]) , Southern Economic Advancement Project ([link removed]) , and allies. At its core, #Listen2Workers carries a simple but urgent message: show up for the working class, listen regularly, and develop policies that reflect workers’ wants and needs.

State legislators who join the campaign sign the following pledge ([link removed]) :

“I pledge to listen to workers and the working communities of America.

I pledge to introduce legislation directly connected to the workers’ needs.

I pledge to record at least one interview with a worker in my community.

I pledge to share the #Listen2Workers campaign with my colleagues.”

And it’s in states where we can take this practice and turn it into policy. From stronger unions ([link removed]) , higher wages ([link removed]) , and paid family medical leave ([link removed]) to childcare for all ([link removed]) , strong public schools ([link removed]) , and labor standards for pension funds ([link removed]) , states are where we can put workers over billionaires, tax the rich, and make life more affordable for all.

Please join us in celebrating these legislators, and all legislators who champion workers, and working families. If you have not had a chance to sign our #Listen2Workers pledge yet, make the pledge today ([link removed]) .

To learn more about how state are championing workers, join us ([link removed]) for a briefing: State Strategies to Build Worker Power. And remember to mark your calendars for a Day Without Child Care on Monday, May 11. Providers, parents, and allies will come together to strike for universal child care and thriving wages for providers. This is part of a national campaign to win universal childcare for every child and family. Find an action near you ([link removed]) .

As always, State Innovation Exchange is here to support you. Thank you for all you do.
