The #Listen2Workers campaign was launched by SiX’s partners End Poverty in California in collaboration with SEIU California, BlackECE, Caring Across Generations, Southern Economic Advancement Project, and allies. At its core, #Listen2Workers carries a simple but urgent message: show up for the working class, listen regularly, and develop policies that reflect workers’ wants and needs.
State legislators who join the campaign sign the following pledge:
“I pledge to listen to workers and the working communities of America.
I pledge to introduce legislation directly connected to the workers’ needs.
I pledge to record at least one interview with a worker in my community.
I pledge to share the #Listen2Workers campaign with my colleagues.”
And it’s in states where we can take this practice and turn it into policy. From stronger unions, higher wages, and paid family medical leave to childcare for all, strong public schools, and labor standards for pension funds, states are where we can put workers over billionaires, tax the rich, and make life more affordable for all.
