Calvin Duncan spent 28 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. He taught himself the law while in prison. Was fully exonerated in 2021. Then ran for criminal court clerk in New Orleans to reform the system that unjustly took nearly three decades of his freedom—and won. MAGA couldn't stomach seeing an exonerated Black man reform the system that wrongfully imprisoned him. So they moved to eliminate his office before he could even be sworn in. But the people of New Orleans and Louisiana Democrats aren’t rolling over. They think they can rewrite the rules. Erase the will of the people. Silence Black communities. Ignore rural farmers. Squeeze out working families. All to rig the system for themselves. But they’ve never been so wrong. The backlash is growing, from New Orleans to Baton Rouge, Shreveport to Sabine Parish, Lafayette to the bayou — Louisianans are saying the same thing: Enough is enough. My name is Dadrius Lanus.
