Sahara’s Story

Like you, we believe every lion matters. So, we’d like to introduce you to a stunning young lioness, with a shocking true story.

Three years ago, Sahara was just a cub when found with a deadly arrow piercing her right hind leg, in Meru National Park, Kenya. Sadly, ‘conflict’ with local people can be a big problem, as farmers try to protect their livestock from attack.

Our team fought to save Sahara’s life, with a Kenya Wildlife Service vet. She was sedated, the sharp arrow removed, and the deep wound treated.

Our team then kept a watchful eye on her recovery. But that’s just the start of Sahara’s story.

Late last year, Sahara was spotted with her very own family of cubs – her first litter. This remarkable lioness is doing her best to boost Meru’s lion population! If we can protect lions, they CAN recover.
